Shadagee Irish Setters was established in 1994 with the purchase of our first Irish Setter, Ch. Quailfield True Love, CD, JH, OA, AXP, NAJ, AJP, VC. MacKenzie did not come to us with all those titles, she was only a baby when we brought her home from Joan and Dick Staby's house in January of 1994. But in the next 11 years, she would teach us everything we know about conformation, obedience, agility and hunting. She was an unforgettable personality in the Irish Setter world, and proof of everything our red dogs can accomplish. She will never be forgotten.
In 1996, MacKenzie was joined by Ch. Quailfield Irish Moss, OA, OAJ, (Quinn) from Patty Nagel. After finishing his championship, Dr. Quinn quickly became our agility star, and had lots of fun as a junior handling dog.
MacKenzie then was bred to Ch. Quailfield Business before Pleasure. She produced our first Shadagee Dog, Nelson, Shadagee Saints be Praised, NA, NAJ.
He's such a photogenic guy!
By this time, we knew just a little about what we wanted and where we were going - so it was time to purchase a brood bitch who could start a family of dogs for Shadagee. Debbie saw and fell in love with the beautiful bitch Ch. Jewelset Special Attraction, and knew she wanted a puppy from her. It was years later that Annie was bred to Fonzie, (Ch. Saxony's Snow in August) and produced the infamous Up litter. 8 of the 11 in this litter finished their championships, an astounding rate of success. Among them, Ch. Jewelset Up, Up and Away, 2006 ISCA National Specialty Winner and winner of second place in the sporting group at the Westminster Kennel Club, 2006. But in 2002, "Windy" was light green girl. Orange girl came home with us.
Sharon Reilly, Julie Waters & Kim Velletri gave us a huge gift when they entrusted us with Ch. Jewelset Sunnyside Up. Summer has been a joy to show for both Debbie & Tim, finishing primarily out of the 9-12 month class all owner handled (with the exception of her last major at age 2.) She has had a very limited specials career in 2006, accumulating 49 breed points, and a BOS and AOM at specialties. Considering Debbie did the handling for this, that's pretty darned amazing! Our first litter out of Summer by Ch. Kerry-Eire Believable (Timothy, owned by Sue Griffiths) was whelped on November 15th 2006. See "Pictures" Page
yes, this is mama, waiting for the results of the EPT test.
And this is Daddy, in his prime. (Ch. KerryEire Believable)
And about 8 months later, the first baby starts out her show career with a bang!
